Manufacturers
There are over 15,000 businesses in the Rockford MSA, of which more than 10,000 are located in Winnebago County. Over the years, Rockford has diversified itself and is now home to a broader set of enterprises, including food processing, logistics/distribution centers and call center/office operations.
However, manufacturing still provides 21% of all jobs in the Rockford MSA, while the Rockford MSA creates about 5.5% of all manufacturing jobs in the state of Illinois. Rockford is recognized as a world leader in the production of machine tools and auto parts, and is increasingly becoming recognized as an important center for aerospace components.
For manufacturers, the RAEDC offers the same client confidential counseling services it offers non-manufacturing businesses, but also opens the door for specialized programs, such as our Continuous Improvement Series, and alliances with organizations and partnerships in the Rock River Valley, such as IMEC, the Flexible Manufacturers’ Network, MARRV, and Global Tradepark, that serve the special needs of local manufacturers.
