K-I Machine Tool & Production, Inc. Wins First 8(A) and Small Business Contracts with the Government

Loves Park, IL - On February 25, 2008 K-I Machine Tool & Production, Inc. received their first 8(a) contract with Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. It all started with a phone call a few months ago to their small business office. “We knew we had the capabilities that would be a good fit with and add value to their projects,” said Somchan Thatsanaphon, Vice President of K-I. Since that phone call Fermi Labs have made several on-sight visits for supplier evaluation. They like what they saw, and in mid-February they gave us a RFQ which quickly turned into our first project with them. They are partnered with two other local manufacturers to complete the order.
Last year, SupplyCore screened and selected K-I Machine Tool & Production, Inc. for their Mentoring Business Agreements (MBA) Program. “K-I will provide SupplyCore with greater manufacturing and engineering capability. They are willing to go the extra mile with their customers,” stated SupplyCore’s V.P. Corporate Development, David Hahn. Last November, SupplyCore invited us and three other regional manufacturers to join them for a Supplier Presentation at Rock Island Arsenal. we explained our capabilities in detail to the Small Business Office and to various contracting specialists. Since then we’ve been in constant contact with the Small Business Office at RIA. in Mid-March we received notice of an RFQ. On March 19, 2008 K-I received their first Small Business award with Rock Island Arsenal, Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center. This has been a few years’ worth of working with our local PTAC and SupplyCore as well as other manufacturers who have all given us great advice along the way. On this project K-I is working with a local inspection house.
